Sanibel Island is one of America's best kept secrets. We have visited the island for over twenty years and it has hardly changed. Sanibel lies off the coast of west Florida, the nearest City being Fort Myers. It is 12 miles long and up to 3 miles wide and it has 15 miles of beaches, some rated the best in the World. The sun shines nearly every day all year round, summers are tropical and winters are very comfortable with average highs in the mid 70's. You can wander a deserted beach, have a gourmet lunch, cycle some of the the islands 22 miles of extensive bike paths and explore the Ding Darling nature reserve all on the same day.
